Wow what a great birthday this was, well it is actually tomorrow but I’ll be working a 24hr shift starting at 8 AM so my Dear wife decided to celebrate my day early, my first and best gift was the arrival of my two Grandsons to play with the trains.
Then the gifts that were picked out from the Grandkids and their parents are,
This "Smokey Mountain 0-6-0 Steam train that really smokes as it travels around the track, I just love the smoking one , this is my first and it is a good strong runner, it’s from the youngest Grandson (6).

This one also smokes and is from the older Grandson, It’s the gray and black one in the back ground.

This is the new controler that came without an instruction sheet, does anyone know what a “Momentum” switch does or can any one give me info on how this hooks up?

And finally this one is from the wife, she said she did the best she could with what money she had saved and I told her the truth, I don’t care if they all spent a dime for each gift, they were train related and that shows me that they care about what makes me happy, no ties, socks or gift certificates for oil changes, these gifts came from the heart.
This one is a Spectrum and boy does this one run great, I had it pulling 25 cars before I gave up.

My wife and Grandsons went shopping at a semi-local pawn shop so they could get more for their dollar and I think they did very well job.
Today my heart is full and my home is filled with the laughter of little Conductors so it is a great day!
None of the locos lo
Nice! Your Chattanooga Choo Choo should have a smoke unit in it. (in case you didn’t know) The smoke fluid goes in the hole that the brass bell sits in. (not down the smoke stack)
Jess, that gP30 looks awesome, and the steamers look sweet as well. I think a momentum switch just makes the loco accelerate and stop like a real train would.
Red Horse.
No extra wiring is required. Just connect your track wires and plug in the controller.
You just turn on the Momentum switch and then turn your speed dial up to where you normally set it for the speed that you want the train to run at, nothing will happen for several seconds. Then you will see the train JUST start to move. It will gradually build up speed to what you have set the speed dial to. When you want the train to slow down, you just turn the speed dial back to off and the train will start to slow down again. If you need to stop the train in a hurry, just turn the main power switch off and that shuts off all power to the track.
Just make sure that you don’t turn the speed control all the way up and walk away. You will have a run-a-way going to top speed and the train MAY or MAY NOT take the corners.
Please, do not ask how I know. [banghead]
Have fun with the Grandkids and your new toys.
Blue Flamer.
[bday] And many, many more!!! I know exactly what you mean about the grandkids - I feel the same about mine!![:)]
There should be screws on the back or the bottom similar to the Bachmanns if it;s anything related ot one of the old ones I have. The wire would haver to be soldered on, no chaeater plugs on it unless you snip and repalce.
Happy Birthday!

Cool stuff, Jess! I hope you and the G-kids enjoy them!
I think you’ll like that MRC power pack. Those were pretty nice units!

Yeaaaaa Jess… Happy Birthday! Congrats on all the cool railroadin’ stuff too! Ain’t it nice having grandkids. I’ve got three, one grown boy, an almost 17 year old girl (that’s the way she tells her age when asked) and an 11 year old girl. When the 11 year old comes she’s usually out in the trainroom with me and we’re doin’ operations.
