The "Turtle" lives on!

Even though MR has dismantled The Turtle Creek Central Layout, the “Turtle” lives on.

Fresh from the paint shop, Turtle Creek’s newest loco hits the rails,

Intermountain F7A shell on a Stewart/Kato drive, Krylon “Fusion” for plastics paint, several add-on detail parts, and decals by Microscale.

The caboose is Proto 1000.

Very nicely done! [tup]

being a short line freak I just gotta ask…

Going to have any GP7or 9s? [8D]

Depends on what the next deal that falls into my lap is, but I would really like to get a HH SD7/9, set up to run long hood forward to carry those heavy loads thru Turtle Creek.

That’s one great advantage of a fantasy line, especially one on a tight budget, they take whatever they can get and afford.

Could somebody make a…Hem… “Real Version” of the TCC

“Real Version” ???

Do you mean a commercially produced model, 1:1 prototype, or what?

Absolutely! That’s one of the main reasons I like a freelance short line…I can have a choice of GP7/9s,SD7/9s,SW1500s or SW1200s while modeling comtepoary times.

Don’t need to break the bank either 1 or 2 locomotives will suffice.

Nice job. The TCC seems to have been one of their more popular projects. I am sure the free decals helped. I am hoping Kalmbach will publish all the articles from the series, including the branch line, the painting and decaling articles in a book format, as they have done with other projects.

The free decals were used up long ago to make a couple of cars in both HO, and N, I just really liked the logo, and when Microscale offered them for sale I loaded up. FYI, they still have a few, but when the’re gone…

It appears someone came close:

I wonder if Microscale made their decals? [;)]

Not close but,spot on…

Meet the real Turtle Creek…

Being a short line nut I just had to look it up.[(-D]
