I received a solicitation in the mail today for UP RR patches. Mailer shows five patches for railroads absorbed by UP.

“Each UP patch is hand mounted on a stunning Collector Panel. The panels go in a FREE Collector Album!”

“These patches are too valuable to extend this unique opportunity to everyone” TOO funny!!

“This offer is by special invitation only.”

“Please allow 8-12 weeks for shipment.”

First patch only $4.95, subsequent patches for $11.95 (plus $1.95 shipping and service). The shipping and service part is a quote also.

I didn’t get an offer like that, but I do wonder if they are paying UP the royalties for using the name (s). That would be funny, patch $11.95, royalties to UP $62.50. Like you, not interested.

I have already pitched the brochure so I am not certain of the wording but it did have a note like ‘Trademarks property of UP and used under license.’ So you know there are royalties being paid.
