I believe that knowledge of railroads (and railfaning) is enhanced when you know more about how the railroads did did it. To that end, there are a number of articles in the memory pages of my Railroads of Madison County web site http://madisonrails.railfan.net that describes how several railroads including the PRR/NYC/PC/CR operated in Indiana in the 40s right to the end of Conrail.
