Read an interesting article in Model Railroader. The author was saying that he had been stationed in Panama with the military. He went to a local radio shop to look for some Christmas tree lights. What does he see, but an O gauge gondola on a shelf behind the counter. Turns out that the owner, an American, has a bunch of O gauge stuff in a room upstairs that he wants to get rid of. The guy winds up buying the lot of it. Then he writes:
"There was a distinct drop in the temperature around home, however, when I appeared following an all-afternoon absence, triumphantly bearing two chests of beat-up railroad equipment and without the Christmas tree lights. The extravagance was another problem, and though fur coats were not the style in Panama, we got one the first August after our return to the States.
