Who would have guessed these are still around!

Wow…the three SD60MAC’s and an SDP40F

No surprise to me, I knew they were at the Test Center. The 4th one is there also.

This is cool. I had no idea the SD60MAC’s still existed - nice to see that they are, and they don’t look that bad either!

Good to see those are still around! Looks like they are still in pretty good shape also.

For those who felt that they would best serve as a boat anchor - looks like you got your wish…[swg]

They look like every other diesel, why wouldn’t they exist? in fact, they don’t look too bad for a new diesel, - - - -s t e a m g u y

i always thought they were still sitting around there. that’s where i last heard they were at. interesting paintschemes though. though i prefer the ones the SD60Ms wore. BN sure did know how to make a flashy-looking locomotive

So, was that an experimental extra-heavy weight coach they were attempting to haul???

The passenger coach is a test car filled with technicians monitoring test equipment connected to the SD70ACe at the rear. The SD70ACe is pulling against the dynamic brakes of the SD60MACs to simulate a loaded train behind. The SD60MACs now spend most of their time in dynamic brake mode simulating a loaded train behind whatever new EMD locomotive needs to be tested. Currently they are helping test the EMD SD70ACe that has been modified to meet the proposed Tier 3 emission standards.

Thanks for the Info…and I know there is a good joke about a “Dummy Load” in there somewhere…

Got visions of the hood of the SD60 stuffed to the gills with old Heathkit CanTennas.

Back when I was tesing an 800KW amplifier, I’d tell the tech working with me, “I need a dummy load” and his response was almost always “Don’t look at me!”
