Thieves steal trains.

Are your trains safe? are you sure? Yeah I know these train models are a little bigger than most of ours but weird things happen these days.[oX)]

What the… Now how the heck do you steal a train? What did they put it in their pickup truck and drive off?

Well, a couple of years ago some enterprising types stole a bunch of rail from the unused part of the East Broad Top. Cut it into short sections, stacked them in a truck and drove away.

And that’s 1:1 scale!

Why?? Who would need rail anyway?

For some years now, the price of scrap metal is on an all time high, resulting in a number of spectacular thefts. A few years back, thieves took down the catenary wire of a private railroad in Germany, others cut(!) sections out of the rail, now this.

It is a pity that the thieves probably don´t even now the value of what they have stolen.

Thieves Steal Trains.

Of course they do.

What else do thieves do?

They will steal anything that isn’t nailed down, and even then they may pry it up.

I doubt they could lift it into a truck, lol. I could see them winching it onto a trailer though. My car trailer’s winch has pulled cars out of fields and I bet I could easily winch a 1800 lb train onto my car trailer, probably very quickly. [:|]

Hey…gotta have that ca$h, man…

Some thieves even tried to steel the centenary wire above an abandoned track.

They were not aware that the wire was LIVE and providing service down at the other end of the line.

Opps, pity. They will not be missed.

Isn’t there a rush on for copper wire as well?

Entire houses stripped of anything electrical, plumbing et cetera…

Druggies, er, thieves will steal anything. In Kansas City, there was a rash of entire A/C units being stolen from houses. They’ve been stealing wire, plumbing, etc. from new homes under construction for at least a decade in Phoenix.

BL,

Have they ever tried to steal the third rail from your subway layout? [(-D]

HEY! Who took all of my THIRD RAIL???

I visited this park about 15 years ago,

these pictures give a good idea of the size of the locos stolen:

It’s a great day out if you’re in the Lake Geneva area.

These days, if I was told that “X” was stolen, I will definately beleave whoever said it most of the time (unless they say that some huge building was stolen)

A few years ago, CSX had a 1:1 scale diesel stolen from a railyard in Miami, FL It tied up rail operations for a while, untill it was found about 12 hours later.

I hope they find the trains
