Just have started looking at a few of the online model rail outlets for the first time. Do these places ever have good Boxing Day sales? Where are the best deals?
Go ahead and tell me, I won’t tell everyone. [:-^]
(I don’t think it contravenes the forum rules on advertising)
(I haunt the electronics stores online sometimes on boxing day…actually here is a tip, start when it reaches midnight Atlantic Time…which can be as early as 8 pm Xmas Day for me on the west coast.)
Boxing day?? I thought this was a forum about trains !! [:-^]
I do recall getting an HO Twin Cities & Western trainset at a local grocery store after Xmas for like $9.99 - it was that price if you bought X dollars of groceries or something.
The Saturday and Sunday after Xmas the GATS or WGH or whatever they call it now train show is coming here, so I’m sure I’ll end up spending plenty there - sales or no !!
Toy Train Heaven is having a 1-cent shipping special for the month of December. However, your order has to total at least $100 to take advantage of the 1-cent shipping. That may seem like a lot, but MR stuff adds up quickly… A loco here, a piece of rolling stock there, some metal wheelsets, some Kadee couplers, and pretty soon you’re talking about real money!
Don’t forget to go to the Hobby Lobby Website. Print the 40% off coupon, renews for anytime!
This week they have a 25% sale on sets & items. 40% off is good from list price only.
IMHO they don’t carry enough stock. Structures, rolling stock locomotives etc is very limited. You can get good deals on WS scenery products. Don’t forget to check the Clearance section for other items.
Caboose Hobbies in Denver always used to have a really cool sale the day after Christmas. It was special stuff they brought in for people who got “train sets” for Christmas to expand with. Those sort of went away when Mark Graybill quit and started a business of his own. They still have a “sale” but nothing like they used to have.
