I’ve said all along that this will never get built. Considering the overall suburban nature of the line, I have long questioned its’ viability anyway. I guess the people living in that Minneapolis neighbourhood now weren’t there back in the days of the Louie, b/c freight trains are a LOT more disruptive to tranquil parks than LRT!

It never made sense to try to run it through the Kenilworth corridor above below or on the ground. It should parallel the Great Northern line for a mile or two further west before running south to the old M&StL. It would then serve areas more people want to go and provide more opportunity for redevelopment of aging commercial areas, which is where the return on investment is in light rail. In fact, the Bottineau line to the northwest of downtown should be built first to get more bang for the buck in redevelopment.

youre not going to get a light rail line through that neighborhood, too many big contributers to both parties. real life always trumps good ideas.
