I am not against unusual names for children, but names of products, adjectives and last names sound so stupid.

For ex. I know a couple who named their baby girl KEVIN ILAQUA!! What a stupid name, sounds like a last name. Other stupid names I came across are: Ed—Jenny James—Ron Keith

If you want to name a kid something unusual why not pick an older name out of circulation, or a foreign name that works, for example the Greek name Missouri means freedom, but it sounds much better and masculine in the Greek form of Missouri.

But KEVIN ILAQUA or Jennie James !!! Can anyone figure out that???!!

I am not against unusual names for children, but the names of states, adjectives and no last name sounds so stupid.

For example, I know a couple who named their pup, opps, I mean child, missouri, what a name, the only thing from missouri is queers and steers.
Of course, he tried to pass the geek name off as a greek name, and we all know what the greeks are really famous for. We all know about their “masculine traits”
I mean, I can see Jenny, Kevin, Ken and Ron, those are normal, human names, but missouri?
Maybe his parents should have named him Rhode Island.

Hey Larry, I always thought I’d heard that Sheboygan, Wisconsin was the brat capitol of the world…ha, ha, ha, might just start an argument here? Jim Shaw, Aurora, IL

David,
Now that I know what you do for a living, I would like to ask a question. I hand make writing instruments, fountain pens, rollerball and mechanical pencils. I need a small metal lathe to custom make bushings, from 3/4" down to 7mm. I am looking at a Unimat, one of the older ones. Size is about right, I will use it only for very small turnings, bushings and trim rings. Ever use one, 0or know of someone who did, and if so, what did you/they think about it?
Thanks,
Stay Frosty,
Ed

Well,James that might be true…I do know once a year they block off the main street through town and put on that silly Bratwurst Festival, even crown a Miss Bratwurst, have beer gardens, food stands, bands, parades, games and rides…For 3 days this town is a mess to try-no attempt to drive in…Now there is a company that makes bratwurst here and sells it to the local stores and drive throughs…The funny part is the majory of the folks that goes to the festival comes from miles away…Most locals would love to see that thing done away with or moved to the fairgrounds.

Sounds interesting, if I see it in the book store I’ll buy it!

Oh Larry - I think there is medication you can take for that! I hope you feel better soon!

Jen

However, my only child was born in Cordell Oklahoma and I have never forgiven the US Gov’t for that!

Jen

Oh Missouri and just when I thought you were becoming an intelligent human being.

My name is Jenny but not James. That was my brother Jessie. Ed is my husband’s name and he would take great exception to your not liking his name. And Jennie was my great-grandmother. She lived in the late 1800’s and that’s a pretty old name. Plus, my relatives are from Kansas and Missouri. So best not be knocking a possible relative! I hear we had some pretty rough characters in our family back then!

Jen

Ed: Gotta do some promoting here - I have two of Ed’s handmade pens and they are wonderful. I do a lot of writing in my job and the pens are so well-balanced and don’t cramp my hand. I have given them as gifts and will continue to do so!

Jen

Tim: Currently it’s available at the Rochelle RR Park store and Rail Hobby Trains on E. State in Rockford. Otherwise Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble.com, and Xlibris.com stock it.

Thanks, John B.

Jen,
Thanks, I’ll have to remember that one!

Larry

Ed,

I would like to know how I can get one of your pens. What kinds of wood do you use? I’ve got one made of teak(spelling?), and two others I don’t know what wood they are.
