This worth anything? PIC ADDED 12/26

I have what appears to be a train order for the Southern Railway, which is on a pre-printed form. The paper is VERY thin and delicate. It is dated Dec. 23, 1948. At the top it says “Standard Train Order Blank for 31 Order”. I think I paid $3 for it just for the historical value. Is #1617 a steam engine?

Details:

To: C&E No 60 at Mt Vernon

Eng 1617 works extra 801 eight naught one am until 801 naught one PM between Cooper and Miller protecting against second and third class trains not protecting against extra trains.

FIG (?) Chief Dispatcher

Repeated at 614 am Black operator

Conductor Train Made Time Operator

Carputo (?) 60 Complete 1212pm Kelley

I’d post a pic but the wife has the digital camera.

I don’t know anything about how much it’s worth, but Southern Ry 1617 was a class A-7 0-6-0 steam locomotive like this one

things are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay and since you payed 3 bucks…its worth 3 bucks…

There very well may be some historical societies that would appreciate a donation… [:-^]

…or a museum. But that’s six of one and half-a-dozen of another.

…What a beautiful black and white of 1638…

That sounds like an excellent idea. Anyone have some suggestions?

By “worth” I didn’t necessarily mean monetary value; I was more curious about its rarity or historical value.

EDIT Pic added to 1st post.

Well, considering the document, you might try the Norfolk & Southern Railway Historical Society.
