This years April Fool's gag....

The trouble is that these days we’re just used to seeing highly-contrived articles designed to showcase and sell some manufacturer’s products. Frankly, to me, it just seemed like another one of those.

John

I have to say, there were a couple of them that didn’t look all that bad. I’m sure that if the photo lighting was a little different, I wouldn’t be saying this…[(-D]

One of my favorites. But I did enjoy this years as well.

Enjoy

Paul

So, does that mean the Tony Koester article was legit?[:-^]

My favorite was from several years ago about the Canadian millionaire who was going to build the complete Burlington Northern in HO scale just north of the border. It was going to be about 500 miles long.

Don

I thought this years’ was pretty lame. I actually needed to ask someone (on another forum) to point it out to me. At first I thought it might have been in Tony Koester’s column, as I rarely have a clue what he’s writing about, not sure if he does either.

I skimmed over the article, saw the funky looking trees, assume they were representing exotic trees. We don’t have palm trees where I live, so anything like this is “exotic” to me.

If the joke is too subtle, why bother?

My favorite is the one about the American Billionaire who was going to buy the whole Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway in full 1:1 scale. It was going to be about 32,000 miles long.

… oh wait, that was for real!

Remember the one on modeling subways in 4" PVC pipe buried in the back yard???

BTY, the editor, Loof Lipra, thanks all of you for your comments; he will try to better next year! [swg]

G Paine,

The subway was also my favorite and also the ceiling layout.

I have to admit I did think it was a serious article at first. Goes to show that sometimes MR can have a few fill in articles that are a little, well…

Chris

Due to Global Warming or Climate Change the new motive power for yard work are former circus elephants. The same beasts are also used to clear snow from yards in the Northeast from Washington to Boston.

Well, I’d say it was successful. The whole point of an April Fool’s gag is to, well, fool people, isn’t it?

From the posts on this thread, I’d say that it worked…

(And yes, they got me too - I was thinking some of the tropical stuff we get down here in Oz) [:D]
