On another forum I am a member of some one has added an N scale sound decoder to Thomas and has also programed custom sounds. Thomas will say (in Thomas’ voice) “bust my buffers” and “I’m a really useful engine” when the right keys are pressed. I believe the decoder he used was from Digitrax and he programed it with a PR3.
