Any news on Thor’s website? Is it temporarily down or gone?
I dont know if its gone or not, but the meaning for “403 Forbidden” means that the request was a legal request, but the server is refusing to respond to it.
Danrunner - Grayson: Thanks for the posts. I’m not too computer wise so when I got the same response earlier, I thought I had hit the wrong key and decided not to follow-up. [:I]
It was “gone” at 4pm, but it’s up now-- maybe he forgot to pay his domain rental bill???
Sounds more like a server either temporarily misconfigured, or some other similar problem. It happens to my personal server every so often and sometimes it’s a day or so before I notice it. When it happens at work (I work in the computer field) usually it gets noticed faster since it usually means someone’s losing money.
Could have been DNS issues with the provider.
Fot those who don’t know what we’re talking about:
It seems to be a new server or something…It’s lightning fast now. Not that it was slow before; it’s really fast now!

He needs to re-design his first page - way too cluttered now with everythign that’s been thrown on there.
Yea, I would agree! Perhaps adding all of the links into a category page link?
I’m glad the site is still up. Thor does a wonderful job and I thank him for his labor of love.
Often that’s easier said than done, particularly if he coded the pages by hand (which wouldn’t surprise me, given the age of the site). When I was in college I built a site that might have been half the size of Thor’s site and it was extremely difficult to manage. Now that I know some Unix kung-fu I might stand a chance, but that’s not always an option.
I’m glad his site is up, and I’ll take what I can get. The hours it would take to make revisions have to be weighed against what he makes off the site (which is nearly $0). If Thor’s like me, designing track plans is fun, but organizing links and moving pages around is about as much fun as IRS forms.
