Thoughts on the format change

In many cases it helps sort the wheat from the chaff. While a “one hit wonder” can indeed post things of value, too often we see a troll, and the post count simply helps confirm it.

I haven’t seen much evidence of star chasing lately - not like some of the blatant examples that were occuring for a while. A large number of the regulars are at five stars anyway, so further posts garner no further stars (Mookie is still waiting for her tiara, though).

Although they’ve had some problems with the hosting lately and we’re all “new members” again, a local board I’m on still carries a post count, as well as a “karma” index, and “new members” below a certain count are listed as such. I’ve seen zero evidence of “star chasing,” or otherwise running up one’s numbers.

I look forward to it.i will continue to help out where I can and keep people updated on whats going on around here.

Tree - I am goin’ for the “Karma”. That and the tiara would be like - Wow! (A Karma is a sports car isn’t it?)

Great minds think alike… see the other thread on this topic for more discussion:

But can Bergie just load me up with about eleven stars before it all comes to a biblical end? It’s the least you can do since I voted on my favorite locomotive ABOUT 700 TIMES! AND AFTER ALL THAT I STILL ONLY HAVE TWO FREAKIN’ STARS!!.. Thanx for letting me vent.

You’re obviously not looking in the right place…

Progress is always change, but change is not always progress.

Its not my forum, so my vote is worth zip!

This is the issue boiled down to its barest bones, unless you own Klambake stock and have a vote on the Board of Directers, this is all just BS griping.

We DONT own this forum, we DONT have a say on how its run, and we DONT have any control over issues like format change.

Accept it, we’re just visitors in someone elses house.

Change is not always progress, but progress is always change.

RE: Finescale.com Forums

  1. Font size too small. Present one HERE is just about right.
  2. Font COLOR and BACKGROUND CONTRAST are AWFUL. Half of the listings are washed out (and too small).
  3. NO STARS!!! Hallelujah!!!
  4. NO NUMBERS of POSTS!!! more hallelujahs!!!
    JMHO

It was wishful thinking, actually.

I like what we have, but I think a change would be good. I agree with fuzzybroken’s opinion and dont go to a v bullitin format, it is a pain in the butt to navigate. As for the color contrast, try looking at this board (Warning: it may contain…WILL contain foul language). http://www.gratefuldeadguild.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=28

Also, not having stars would be a good idea, becasue those with no stars don’t seem to look inferior to people with 5.

I’m not sure how Ed is getting large font but when I view it it is difficult to read due to small font and the color of the text links. Fix those 2 things and it would be fine by me. Although I do think Tree has a good point about post counts.

…Jen…of your post back on the 1st…Karman-Ghia {hope the spelling is correct}, may be the car you were thinking of…It was manufactured some years ago.
On the format change…I suppose my thoughts on it would be…If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it…I don’t seem to see very many breaks in it…It is easy to read as it is.

Quentin - I had something a little more sporty in mind - I do remember the Kharman Ghia but something a little more along the red vette line…Hmmmm?

…Yes…!! Let’s make it a Z06 and go for the best…! The top dog Corvette…Zero to 60 in 3.7 sec…!
