What is the proper routing of the cable on a Lionel 6460 crane? The body comes off with 4 screws and there is a remnant of the line on the shaft. When the new line goes up the boom and over the boom pully, then down throught the pully on the hook. where does the other end attach?
Put it through the hole that is just behind the boom pulley. Then tie an overhand knot to keep it from coming back out of the hole. Trim the excess string from the knot.
Something that I did was to put the string through the end at the pully end then run it into the cab. Another trick is to add a small weight to the end of the string to keep some tension on the string if you need it.

OT, but when mine needed replacement, I used black Carpet/upholstry thread. It is thick and very strong. Seems to glide well through the pulley system.
