Three Class I railroads named to Fortune’s Most Admired list

If you’re BNSF CEO Matthew Rose, how are you taking this news?

Andy Zachary,

Would BNSF be elligable for this list since they are wholly owned by Bershire Hathaway?Maybe that’s why they were left off instead of a basic unworthyness.
George

It looks kike E H Harriman’s legacy at UP is being well looked after.

E H Harriman’s legacy extends to Amtrak trains shunted into sidings for ‘junk’ trains? I hope “Fortune Magazine” (Time/Warner) didn’t make the ‘most admired’ list.

CSX has come a long way to achieve this recognition.

James: why you call Harriman “kike”?

James: why you call Harriman “kike”?

Nothing for BNSF?

How quickly the past becomes irrelevant. I don’t think CSX and NS would have been among the most admired shortly after they divided up Conrail, or UP after it merged SP. And I would have thought CN, with its industry-leading operating ratio, deserves a little admiration.

Mr Hays. I believe it was an obvious typo and not a slur

According to the Progressive Railroading blog, “Overall, [Fortune] ranked Apple No. 1, Amazon No. 2, Google No. 3, BNSF Railway Co. owner Berkshire Hathaway Inc. No. 4, General Electric Co. No. 10 and United Parcel Service No. 32.” So obviously BNSF was not rated as a standalone entity.

It is about time the railroads were recognized. Very happy to see NS nominated.

Fortune doesn’t recognize a railroad or any other business unless it is a publicly held company.
