So the other day I was doing a little train running on my layout when nature called. But I was drawn to the layout until things got more urgent. Later nature was screaming and no longer calling so I went to the bathroom with the throttle to sit on my throne. I simultaneously ran the train and did some switching since the restroom in my basement has a straight view from the throne to the layout. It was wonderous! My two favorite things…united!
Oh NO!
I always take nature’s call seriously.
Now a REAL RR engineer would have had to stop the train with permission to tie up the line and go and then proceed as directed!
That is the proceedure I follow. I cannot see my layout form that part of the house!
ROFLMAO !
PS. Remind me never to run trains at your house. lol
Naa, just remember to bring your own throttle [:O]

Just when I thought there there was no such thing as too much information…
Is that what’s referred to as the sticky throttle syndrome?[(-D]
Brent
My brain would be fried. There is too much going on for me to do those two things at once. I might mess up somewhere and cause a mess (you can draw your own conclusions from that[:)]).
Some days I’m lucky just to sing and shower at the same time.[:$]
You almost ended up w/ a real “Water Feature”!
Which reminds me. Even though my basement is unfinished, I gotta get a bath room installed down there.
Rich
I gave that up too. I found I was to uncoordinated to do those two things at once. AND the shower does NOT seem to produce any measureable improvement to my singing! [8]
At first I thought the OP was gonna say he dropped his throttle into the great nether regions of the great abyss before he sat down to ponder or something…
A couple of thoughts… For those of you who wish to pursue multiple taskingwith obscured view, there’s always the vidcam.
For persons of my thinking, there’s the “All Stop” this can wait as the “other” thing is my constitutional right that I will always exercise, kinda like voting.
Not a complaint; just curious.
What induced you to share that?
You’d be far fromt he first person to have a TV int he bathroom. A friend of mine has a rather alrge one, positioned where it can be seen from either the throne or the soakign tub. Instead of a TV show or movie, you could watch a train cam and drive a train. Although I tend to use the solitary moments to read the latest MR.

My layout’s in the basement, er, train room, too. That run upstairs is good exercise… So’s that dancing when I get up there and the wife’s in the bathroom.
Were you running Difco Dump Cars, by any chance?
Gentlemen: pre preperation is a great thing. When I built my layout in the basement, I was able to position the yard lead to Enid yard so that while in the throne room I had a direct straight ahead view from the “engineers seat”. However, Enid yard is about 25ft long and also curves out of sight behind the furnace, so should an accident happen at that location, I would be in trouble.
PS the bathroom has a shower also, but not with line of sight vision to the railroad.
Bob
So you did movement both yours and the trains LOL. How that dedication to railroading.
I agree, what exactly did induce you to share that somewhat personal experience?
Almost as good as Tim Allen’s “The Man’s Bathroom” on Home Improvement.
Do check out some of the new “ejector” systems. Unless your roughed in or it will be an easy tie-in, sure beats all the work of breaking out conc and having cold patches. Most ejectors can tie into exist vent
