Tichy stirrup steps

I’m looking to install Tichy stirrup steps on some cars and didn’t know what size hole to drill. Any recommendations?

Welcome to the forums.

I expect that it is a small numbered drill size, do you have a set?. If you have the steps a set of calipers could measure them for you and match the size with the drills. If you don’t have calipers accurate enough, take a piece of scrap styrene and make a drill guage (you can buy one but any I h ave seen are fairly expensive). Drill holes with the drills that seem to be the closest in size, then try the steps in the different size holes. Mark the holes for future reference.

Sorry I can’t come up with something easier.

Good luck,

Richard

I would guess somewhere between #75 and #79. As mentioned above, try drilling some holes in a piece of scrap plastic and see which size works best.

I used a #77 for my HO scale cars, plus the use of a magnifier to see what I was doing. [:-^]

My copy of the Tichy catalogue recommends a #77 drill. The wire is .0125 dia.

By the way, welcome to the forums!
