These were and are GREAT locomotives!, I remember seeing E-8’s and E-9’s pushing & pulling commuter coaches behind my brother’s apartment on the old CB&Q line in Little Village in Chicago, the sound of those V-12’s more than anything reminds me of my railfanning childhood in the 70’s & 80’s. I might just try to go on this trip.

UP’s E-9’s are technically, E-38-2’s. UP exchanged the two V-12’s for one V-16. Although the E-38-2’s don’t sound as throaty but nevertheless, they sound sweet.
