EDITING ALERT – time for the forum regulars to meet at the Kalmbach booth at Milwaukee’s Trainfest is now set at 3 pm Saturday to accomodate those who want to see Soo Line 2-8-2 1003 run that day.
It’s time to think of another gathering of the clans.
It is not too early to start planning the third annual Group Photo of forum members who gather at the Kalmbach booth each year at Milwaukee’s Trainfest. It will be November 10th and 11th at the State Fair Park in West Allis. Here is a link to the Trainfest website:
Last year we had 10 forum members show up for the photo and it could have been more but a couple of folks just missed it by a few minutes. Right, Noah? And maybe Bergie can join us this year.
If you have the Trains.com t-shirt don’t forget to wear it for the photo. I am sure the weather will be too cold for T shirts but you can always wear it over another shirt.
We’ll keep in touch and firm up a gathering time as November 10th nears.
{ADDED TO POST} Since Keith Schmidt, who brings the camera, and I, who brings the cheesy white sign, will likely be there both days there is no law that says we cannot have a photo gathering on both Saturday and Sunday. The only complication is that there might be a steam locomotive, Soo Line 1003, running on Saturday.
Good ideas Zardoz. Personally it’d be nice to put a face or two to some ‘handles’ but I can’t go on Sunday (at this point). I’m going to shoot for Saturday in late afternoonish.
My club is attending as a group again (we do every year now, though we don’t bother to set up our layout at trainfest), so I figure I’ll probably be down sometime Saturday. What time though, I don’t know. Last year I thought I had it figured out, and, well, Keith and Dave know how that turned out. So right now I won’t commit to anything… [;)]
I like the idea of seeing when some of the trains.com and TRAINS staffers might be there too. Always nice to meet some of them as well as other forum members.
This is one of those events where I find myself wishing my wife and I had two vehicles again, as I’m sure she wouldn’t want to spend 9 hours on the road in one day for something like this, and she also wouldn’t want to be stuck at home while I did.
Dave beat me to the punch on the posting this year. I was watching the Packers beat the Redskins in Hi-Def on Sunday afternoon instead of posting on the computer.
Well I will be at Trainfest both days as of right now. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year. For good attendance I think the weather needs to be cool or cold. If its nice outside and warm people tend to go outside. It would be great to have another record year.
There is talk that there are over 20 new vendors on the MRIA side of the show.
Also note the NEW HOURS for Trainfest. For many years Trainfest hours were 9am to 5:30pm on Saturday and 9:30am to 5pm on Sunday. This year the hours are listed as 9am to 5:30pm BOTH DAYS. Don’t know the reason for the longer hours.
High Noon on Saturday will work for me. I will bring the camera. Hopefully we can beat last years number of Forum Members. Again any and all Kalmbach/TRAINS staffers are welcome to join in. The first year of the “gathering” we did have our esteemed Moderator Erik B present for the photo.
I will be wearing my TRAINS.com T-shirt, actually underneath my n-scale club shirt, but I will make it work.
