Time to get back to modeling

With summer ending I will soon be putting away the golf clubs and get back to working on my layout. I am passionate about both hobbies but only have time for one so not much gets done on the layout in the warmer months. September has been cooler than normal and I just played my worst round of golf in about 20 years so the golf season may be ending sooner than expected. I stopped in my LHS and picked up the latest RMC as well as the new Walther’s catalog and I am getting the railroading bug again. I’ll watch the Ryder Cup finals tomorrow and if I haven’t downed too much Jack Daniels while watching the US team take another beating, I might start to tinker in the train room tomorrow afternoon. I have a half built structure laying on the work bench right where I left it last spring and if I really get ambitous, I might move the entrance to my main yard to eliminate a really bad S-curve that has turned out to be a real problem area. Goals for the winter are covering all the bare benchwork with at least the first layer of scenery and hopefully beginning some real operating sessions.

Good work. My modelling season slows down a lot in the winter, because the family and I spend a lot of weekends in the frozen north strapping boards to our feet and sliding down mountains. So, right now I’m putting in as much time as I can on scenery, since most of my trackwork is done. Still, I’ve been placing small orders at my LHS so I’ll have a few kits to build when the world is cold and dark.
