A most excellent selection this time.
Drew’s shot is too overexposed; while the wheels are exposed ok, most of the detail is lost in the brightness. Had the exposure been set for the sides of the trailers, it would have been an awsome shot. I did, however, really like the composition.
Erik’s image was real nice overall. The composition, exposure, and subject placement are very well done. And the glint is certainly pronounced, although for my tastes, I find the window reflection to be so overpowering that it distracts from the rest of the photo. On its own, it is an good shot, but this image is up against some good competition.
Andy’s shot is my favorite of the bunch. An beautiful and dramatic representation of midwest railroading, mixed with some excellent planning and preparation (and a good dose of skill). Unfortunately, it did not really exemplify “glint”.
Alex’s shot had it all for this contest. A cool perspective (for some reason the word Amtrak on the side of the coach really helped the shot), an interesting bridge, a nice sunset, and the entire train bathed in glint. Beautiful.
