That’s exactly where I’d want to build a factory nowadays.
Good time to try to do something in Russia. Just when Russia is invading their neighbors.
Making them here and sending them there still seems like a better plan.
How well do they they work on those Russian tanks?
Are they crazy ? These people are bad news. I think this is exactly the matter with big business today.
Does not matter who the country is, or how evil they are so long as they can make a buck. Shame on you !
Don’t be surprised after you pour a lot of money into the venture and share the technology with the Russians that the venture will be nationalized or stolen by the Russian mob.
Based on the current Russian/American Political Environment…I see this deal sliding over the brink and into oblivion…Michael Jackson’s comment may be somewhat prophetic…Wonder how fast it will take Timken to ‘walk this deal’ back?
Really? I suspect someone may have other ideas about that.
There should be sanctions against that County. Putin is no good and any company who does business with that bastard should be seized.

lots of luck comrade
Considering the current events, this is unbelievable. Some people in corporate America will do business with the devil to make a few dollars…
A bit off the “railroad” track but as a former Soviet analyst at DoD and not suffering from nostalgia for the USSR in my opinion we need to be careful…this is no Cold War and US business including Timkin knows this. Putin knew we were not in the hands of adults making foreign policy when Romney told Obama that Russia was our primary national security threat. Heck, until 1942 - about 21 days after Hitler declared war on the US, (Dec. 9, 1941) Ford and GM were providing a good portion of the Wehrmacht’s motor transport…(the GM Opel Blitz was the Wehrmacht’s equivalent of the deuce and a half) US corporations do not put national interests before their CEO’s salaries and corporate profits. But in the case of recent events we need to take a break and calm down…Ukraine was only an independent nation for a brief while during the RUSSIAN Civil War…many Ukrainians consider themselves to be Russians…ditto for many residents of Moldova…(Both countries retain Russian rail gauge after two decades of independence…so much for integration with the EU.) We would serve Ukraine best by supporting it as a bridge between the EU and Russia, at the same time seeking to - despite Putin’s buffoonery and bullying - draw Russia into partnership with the EU and the US. The more we treat Russia as a partner, the more Putin gets the wind taken out of his sails. As for drawing red lines, that train has left the station as Obama has lost all credibility.
Bruce Bell and JM Smith, you two gentlemen couldn’t have stated better. To me, that smacks with lack of patriotism.
I agree with Mssrs. Bell & Smith. Timken must stand for dim bulb!!
Things have been moving very quickly, and this venture could fall victim to the sanctions that the US and EU are putting into place as a result of the Crimea grab. So, it may not be up to Timken to end the deal, but rather that the government TELLS Timken to forget the whole thing.
How about a YELLOW line in the sand? Seems more appropriate to the current administration’s stance on foreign policy. Better yet, how about sending one of those drones into Putin’s HQ. Might scare him back to reality, ya think? Just kidding about the drone.
I suggest Timkin should rethink this deal.
