In case anyone is interested in this, it looks like the Timonium, Md., show has changed hands: http://gsmts.com/a_newsletter.html
Yeah, someone posted that a little over a week ago at Atlas Rescue. Looks like I can’t be a HZ groupy anymore! =P
Never having been a vendor or seller, I didn’t know there were rules. The new guys intend to enforce them!
I have never really noticed much non related train stuff at timonium, but then I have not been looking for it either.
If I want non-train related stuff I go to a Greenberg show.
Greenberg is a train and toy show so yeah, if you go for trains, expect to skip a lot of tables!
I think the rules info is the same was was there before - they are not really new. I noticed they mentioned, “this is not a fleamarket” but I have to say, alot of the trains which were at the show on Feb 1 were what you’d expect to see at a flea market - old toy trains made by Tyco, Life Like and similar. Yes, they qualify for the show but there was a lot of tables like that I had to bypass to get to the good stuff.
I have always enjoyed the October show, and would like to thank Howard for all the work he has put into it. Even though we have to stay over a couple of nights, the wife and I always find interesting things, as well as some very nice layouts displayed. Hope nothing changes too much.
I know that Howard has been a contributor on this forum, and I join in thanking him for his work through the years in putting this show together. It is a massive undertaking, yet I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Attending the Timonium show is a favorite activity, and when there I always feel like “a bear in his natural habitat”. There has been some change in the vendors over the years, but I believe that ties more to normal changes in demographics and the aging of some of the vendors than to difficulties with the show itself.
Good luck in your future endeavors, Howard.
I already have the fall show on my calendar. I don’t live as close as I used to and don’t get to attend quite as often as before, but the Timonium show remains as one of my primary sources of kits and equipment… as well as a reason for a road trip and a jumbo crab cake sandwich.
