Anyone have ant tips on laying microengineering flextrack so the rails don’t separate fromthe ties and any tips on laying curves with it?
on the curve i just pound nails to hold the flex track in place and then lift up the flex, put glue, and put the flex track down. done
On curves–hie thyself down to thy LHS and pick up some Ribbonrail radius guides that come in all kinds of radii. Set it in the middle of the track and gently bend the rails as you push it along the ties. Works like a charm. Don’t sneeze, though while you’re doing it, you could end up with some very interesting radii. As to Microengineering track, I stay away from it, gorgeous as it is, because I’m kind of a natural klutz. Be VERY careful. I use Sinohara track, it’s built for King Kongs like me.

Bend slowly, on a flat surface, working the curve toward the ends with your hands. Unlike ATLAS, what you bend will hold it’s curve,.
Use rail cutters such as Xuron or a Zoning saw,
I LKE to draw my curve with a string or yadstick as a trammel, and use that as the track center - eyeballing to remove kinks. I also like to stagger the joints a few inches and solder two ends together before curving,since my curves take two pieces. That helps to eliminate a kink where they join, and staggering the ends also helps.
Since I’m gerally inside the curve I bend the raiis toward me. I solder only the joint to form the curve, allowing all joined rail elsewhere to ‘breathe’.
