Hello all,
I recently acquired a Lionel 18610 Rock Island switcher engine made in 1990. It is in very good condition overall; while it definitley was run by its previous owner, it appears to be well cared for. So far it is running and smoking well on my 027 loop. I love how it looks exactly like the postwar switcher, but has a smoother motor and electronic E-unit.
I just wanted to know what other member’s thoughts were on this engine. Is it a good runner overall? Has anyone had any issues with it? Any tips?
Also, how many cars do you think it can handle without stressing the motor? The engine seems to have no trouble with 5 modern-era cars in tow. I also like to pull postwar cars too, and I know they are heavier, so I figured I’d ask to see if anyone else has experimented.
Thanks in advance!
