Tired of the ignorance and bossyness.

I’m just tired of peoples ignorance. It seems some of my rr friends are
getting more ignorante all the time and bossy and telling me what i should do at the tracks or on “MY” Layout. I personally am tired of it and what am i to do.
I like my friends but its about to drive me crazy. HELP Please.

i have 2 pairs of boxing gloves. things should work out after that.

well I would tell ya why and what to do about it but then you would only yell at me for telling you what to do. But if the railroaders are telling you what to do it is for your own good. or be hard headed and learn the hard way.

Listen, if the’re acting in an official capacity as railroaders, then listen. Otherwise, be safe and use common sense. Friends are important. It’s your layout–dispatch them into a siding for a few hours [:)][:D][;)].

Friends are important.

Sincerely,
Daniel Parks

You could ask them polightly to stick their head in a bucket full of water three times and pull it out twice[}:)][}:)]

Remember when you were kids and no matter what games you played, it was always a shouting match for who had control, and the kid with the biggest mouth always got their way? It’s pretty much the same for adults.

[(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D] Now that’s funny !!! [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

We have people like that at the club where I’m a member. These times are a perfect opportunity to make a statement without saying a word.

For example, I’ll run a string of Superliners behind my Bowser K-4. Then they’ll laugh when they realize how they sounded.

Well said.[bow]

whose layout is it??? if its yours you can take kind suggestions or the other guys can take a hike. play nice
stay safe

Learn to spell, please. Now, remember no one has to do anything that will only be an irritation, it might be time to change your outlook and the people you associate with!

Let me get this right, you are asking what you should do about people always telling you what you should do?

HEH HEH, that’s clever

Clearly, part of the problem is that yout friends do not understand what is important to you, or they wouldn’t be making suggestions that are so far off from what you want.

Next time one of them blows off about what you should do, ask him why you should do that. Then, whatever he says, laugh at him, explain that his reason is the dumbest idea you have ever heard, and explain why your plans are better suited to your needs.

I find that most guys making those unsolicited “Hey, know what you should do?” suggestions are really just trying to show that they know something

I’ve got a buddy who, whenever he comes over to lend a pair of hands for a project I’m working on, always trys to run the project, and change my mind not only about how to do the work, but also change the finished result, based upon his preferances, and at times that would result in a project I never wanted in the first place.

OFTEN I have to remind this guy that I just asked for a helping hand, not for a supervisor.

Yeah, it makes him mad. But in these instances I think he deserves to get mad

Better him than me…

If somebody says “Hey, ya know what ya oughta do?”

The reply is, “Yes. Of course. And I’m doing it.”

[?] Are your friends telling you how they fill,or how you SHOULD do something on your layout. If it’s merely a suggestion, than take it as that, and get over it.If their just flatout telling you “That’s not the way it is on the railroad” , then explain to them “I like their valued opinion, but I don’t have the room” or another good exuse, just to not look like a sorebutt.I know how hard it is to relate real world to modeling.I work as an engineer on the RR,and people who I know that are RR buffs are all the time telling me “how things are on the RR” and they don’t have the slightest clue to what their talking about. But it’s useless to argue with some of them. But I can figure out those who I can [soapbox].So as hard as it as at times , take a deep breath, and just suck it up.It may hurt a liitle, but friends are friends, and you should keep it that way.Don’t let a “know it all” get you mad [:(!].

Can you spell D-Y-S-F-U-N-C-T-I-O-N??? Let’s face it people who would rather spend time alone in the basement or where ever are dysfunctional. What are some of the signs?

  1. Know a better way to do anything
  2. If you don’t model X you are wrong
  3. Think they have the asnwer to everything
  4. Citicize for the sake of criticizing after all they are right aren’t they?

Best to cull them from your crews and send them packing. i once had a guy say to me in my house not knowing who I was, “The guy who built this is a flaming A******!”. I sent him home immediately and told him don’t come back.

Well, to follow the first post in reply, I would say “Just take your train set and go home.” Wait a second- you ARE home.

The whole point of a layout is to do whatever you want to do with it. It’s a hobby. I got started running Lionel trains around a large circle. There is nothing accurate about running a Santa Fe F unit and then replacing it with a New York Central Hudson pulling freight. On a track with three rails. I didn’t know any better, so I had a great time. And fell in love with railroads.

Nowadays, I’m working on a layout that’s sort of historically accurate, complete with matching locomotives and cabooses. I’m having a great time… which is the whole point. Very few people, except for my local hobby shop salesman (who models the same railroad a decade later) know enough about the stretch of tracks I have going to be able to tell the difference- including my wife.

Have fun. It’s your hobby! Get folks mad about something more important.

This kind of makes me think of the rule my wife and I have about driving: Whoever has the steering wheel in front of them drives. Whoever doesn’t have the steering wheel in front of them shuts up.[^] It works for me,although, a lot of the time, I’m riding with my eyes closed.[:O]

And your mouth wide closed [(-D] .

You’re not married are you ? Sounds like divorce court !

This sure sounds like another Trains forum Friday post to stir things up so Bergie has something to deal with on Monday morning.
