11 days to THE big train show. It’s the Train Collectors Association’s 3 days at YORK PA.
No public here, just TCA members, just 14,000 active train collectors, all 8 halls at the York Fair Grounds filled with trains and only trains. Oct. 18, 19, and 20th.
I’ve never actually been to the York show, but mainly because from what I hear it’s all mint top notch trains for sale. I’m more of a “floor rat” (think about that for a second if you don’t get it) so is there a lot of under the table bargain boxes there too?
I’ll be there also assuming nothing comes up at the last minute like it did last spring.
LAZ - 1 pm Friday sounds good! Interested in Breakfast one day at Denny’s? John F??
Lots of trains of all kinds at York - rusted junk to new in the box…one can find it all there.
Now with no more requirement for 2 signatures - one should be able to show up - file the membership papers - pay the TCA dues and York entrance fee and be IN!
This weekend I’ll start a thread on breakfast on Friday morning. I ate at Round the Clock resturant east of the I 83 and Rt 30 exit with SIR JAMES< CHARLIE and BRUTUS in the spring fast service and good eats. Also HUDSON JOHN and some others will be eating there too. So we’ll see what everyone wants to do. I’ll be there Thursday and Friday all day long.
There is plenty for the ‘bottom feeder’ to browse at York… You’ve got to crawl under the tables and sort through the boxes. One of the best bottom feed opportunities was when a guy just had a pile of prewar parts: Roofs, floors, doors, walls, in a big pile with a sign “Make an offer”.
All prices ranges and all condtions. Not just a ‘cream of the crop’ meet.
Over 1,200 tables and booths, all the manufacturers, junkers for parts, yes, the trains you only read about, yes, at 2 minutes a table you will not see it all. I’am shure anyone who comes will have no problem finding a sponsor.
As always, I’ll be in the Blue Hall (Old Main) at table E-14.
