TMCC for both command control and conventional locomotives

I’m operating two separate loops of track on my layout. One is set up for command control operation and the other is operated by a TMCC Powermaster to run conventional engines by the same CAB-1. I can only run TMCC engines on the outer loop and conventional engines on the inner loop now. I would like to run TMCC engines on the inside loop ocassionally in place of the conventional engines. Is it possible to do this by somehow bypassing the Powermaster and then switching over to the TMCC Command Base? I’ll probably convert the inside loop & all of its switches to Command Control but I would stil like to run conventional engines on this part of the layout from time to time. Any suggestions?

If you are using a singe power supply the TMCC signal is already on both loops through the “U” (ground) wiring. You should be able to run the TMCC engines under command control on either loop just by switching the PM to CMD and addressing the engine. NOTE: this will put full voltage to the track through the PM. Or, leave it in CONV, set the voltage, and address the TMCC engine.

I had a similar system with my old layout but I isolated the center rail of the two loops and used two PM’s, one for each loop. This way I could run command on one with the PM in CMD and conventional on the other with the other PM on CONV. I programed one as TR1 the other TR2.

Roger… Thanks alot… I tried it both ways, it works great and it was simple.
