TMCC, Legacy or ZW

Hi

I am looking for some advice. Currently I run mainly Lionel O Scale postwar trains with one MTH 1999 set and a modern Lionel set from the 80’s. I am considering upgrading from just my ZW Transformer to a handheld set. I see many Trainmaster Command Control Sets available as well as the newer Legacy System. My question is if I upgrade what system would be the most cost effective for my layout especially considering the majority of my trains are not TMCC equipped? Or should I just stay with my old transformers?

thanks

bruce

Run your trains by remote control using the CAB-1 and PM-1 PowerMasters. This is NOT command control, but allows you to run any of your Lionel gear by remote.

If you have enough power now, you do not need a new transformer, the PM-1’s can be powered with any Lionel transformer(but over 100 watts works best). Up to 9 PM-1’s can be used to power TRack 1 through TRack 9 as if each TRack was a separate transformer, all controlled by one remote.

Using the PM-1’s for control also will give you bell, whistle/horn, programmable momentum, threshold limit, and current protection for each of the power districts.

You can add one or two at a time, too, as you want, as they are compatible with Lionel transformers(and your layout) just as you are using them now.

I agree, CAB1 and a couple of powermasters and you are set. Fairly low cost and you can always spend more on the more costly stuff later.
