UPDATE: Link at end of thread

Hi Tom: IMHO, the best browser gets even better!

Did they fix the copy/paste issue and making links clickable yet??

But that’s only for this forum software, its not a universal Firefox issue. But give us the scoop, does that work in Ver 3?

Doesn’t work on any other forum I’m on either. From what I’ve read on all the FireFox forums it IS universal. They show some kind of registry crack to fix it, but I don’t like adding and deleting things from my registry.

I participate in about a half dozen other forums and Firefox copy/paste works in every one except this one. However, the keyboard shortcuts for cut, copy, and paste all work in this forum.

Tom

I don’t but a friend whose computer i use has it. I’ll inform him though I am sure he knows.

Tom, I recently installed the latest version of Ubuntu which comes with Firefox 3, but unfortunately it wasn’t compatible with many of my favorite FF extensions. I’m not sure if that’s peculiar to Linux, or a cross-platform issue, but I want to make sure that it’s backwards-compatible before switching.

You can give the current version permission to copy and paste here, as I mentioned in another thread. Works fine for me. [:)]

I am in fifteen forums with five different subjects and Firefox copy/paste works in every one except this one. The keyboard shortcuts for cut, copy, paste all work in this forum. No big deal.

Rich

the mouse right click doesnt work, but ctrl c (copy) and ctrl v (paste) does

yeh, sounds like the forum software is doing this. I should try this in IE, sounds like a bias towards Microsoft…making something NOT work in other browsers. I have encountered websites that need IE only and dont work on anything else…blah…

I want to rant a little on this forum, software, virtually any post you try to make it has to load all the icons etc, I have to wait for everything to settle before trying to type/write.

56k here.

I want to lead the Kalmbach folks to another software

their version used by EPIC games is absolutely neato.

Perhaps this forum software works out for the various features Kalmbach uses but I just want them to peek at the VBulletin.

Kalmbach is a .NET windows based shop (just check the link above .aspx = .NET), and I don’t think Vbulletin runs on IIS .NET.

I’ve been using the current version of Firefox for about 6 months now and I’ve never, for some reason, been able to copy/paste on any website. I get a message saying something about it’s not enabled for security reasons and I’m directed to a page that explains how to go into the deep, dark inner workings of my computer and create a fix.

Yeah, like I’m gonna do that.

Otherwise I like Firefox and will keep using it. When I have to copy paste I crank up I.E.

Jarrell

P.S. Haven’t tried the keyboard shortcuts yet.

Interesting… Maybe it’s because I’m using the Mac, but I have never had any problem with Firefox with copy and paste. Of course I have always used “Control C and Control V” to do that. )I think on the Mac that is thestandard “cut and Paste”. I didn’t know that it was done any other way…

I frequently “copy and paste” from the WPF across the street to here and then modify it for this site… Hmmmm.

That’s the same error message I get on EVERY site. FF forums say it’s a copywrite/security issue. Not just a glitch. The problem is not addressed in the Version 3 “new features” section.

Wow, what a great birthday present for me! An updated version of firefox! [:D]

Happy Birthday to me.

I get firefox 3.

While nobody cares I insist on ____ _______

Jarrell,

Like Ray, I use Ctrl+C for copy, Ctrl +X for cut, and Ctrl+V for paste and it works everytime. To cut and paste text, perform the following procedure:

  1. Highlight the text that you want to cut with the left mouse button.

  2. Press “Ctrl” and hold it down, then press “X” and release both at the same time. (The text should disappear.)

  3. Move your mouse cursor to where you want to insert the text.

  4. Press “Ctrl” and hold it down, then press “V” to paste.
It’s that simple. Once you do it a few times, it will become second nature.

Tom

The only forum on which I have trouble with the copy/paste issue is this one, so I use the keyboard for that. Ctrl-A = highlight text, ctrl-C = copy, ctrl-X = cut, ctrl-V = paste.

I wouldn’t know, I’m still running Firefox-4-8-2 …

I am looking forward to some of the features… but will also lament having to scrounge up new plugins. I will also be curious how all the cool new bookmark features export to other firefox installs. It sucks when you spend a lot of time setting up bookmarks only to have them scrambled when imported to another machine.

I will also lament the inevitable problems people will encounter with the few catalog websites I still maintain on a contract basis. Glad the release is coming after my super-busy time at my day job.

I like this message board software a lot. I am sure there are other good ones out there but this one has some nice features. They just need to disable the cut and paste warning in firefox. It works fine with ctrol-x/ctrl-v, no reason to have a popup when using right click cut/paste.

Chris

DITTO!

It’s the forum that’s broken, NOT the browser.

Looking forward to Firefox 3 and of course I’m using Thunderbird for mail! [tup]

Thanks for the heads up Tom!
