To hide a tunnel? Mental block

Hi all!

We have a section that is next on the list to add scenery, but running into some RR artist blocks.

Picture can be found here :http://coldshoulderrailroad.weebly.com/pictures.html

at the bottom of the page.

As you can see there is the return loop with one leg’s tunnel running through this area. The wall is in the process of having a city/town backdrop installed as I type. We cannot figure out what to do to “HIDE” the tunnel. In front we want to have a small yard and maybe one other small industry building… The gray is slated for yard, the pink would need to be the entrance and this is where we are stuck! I don’t think a bunch of trees would look right. Maybe a creek or drainage viaduct? The plan is to have a city go along the entire length of this second pic. 12 feet. So hiding the tunnel is really causing problems… some hollow buildings will work on the city section…

Please excuse the mess…

Thanks for any ideas.

Stryker,

Can’t seem to get your link to work.

Could you use a highway overpass? Go behind or between large buildings?

Just a couple of thoughts.

Good luck,

Richard

Your real problem is how to access the inside of the tunnel. I would make the entire “roof” of the tunnel removable. That may require some additional planning, but if you don’t do it, you’ll really wish you had.

You could use a series of stone wall castings to mask the side of the tunnel. I have a similar space where I used stone wall for part, and a wood plank fence for another part, where the scenery rose and made it a lower wall to cover up. Consider using more than one technique to block the view.

Yet another option is to make a long warehouse building out of brick sheet or DPM modular sections.

Yes the plan is to make most if not all of the tunnel roof removable in sections.
