To owners of Bachmann HO 44-Ton switchers...

Can you give me the truck wheelbase measurement, from axle to axle? The reason I ask is because Bachmann is making their old-style 44-Ton power trucks again as repair parts, and I’m thinking of using one as a tender drive in my Bachmann Lafayette (they’re only $15!!). The length from axle to axle of the tender is 18.5mm (about 5’ 3"), and the specs for the 44-Ton switchers says the trucks have a 5’ wheelbase. If the length is close enough, I may be able to modify one to fit the tender and get my little train set up and running again!

According to my measurement the wheelbase from axle to axle is 7 scale feet, or 15/16th of an inch.

Darth:

The center to center measurement on my old style 44 tonner is 0.927 inches. Sorry but my micrometer doesn’t read in mm.

That comes out to about 23.5mm, so it’s about 5mm too long. Oh well, it was worth a look. Thanks anyway for the measurements.
