to people behind the scenes

Are any of you train watchers or just puter people and readers?

Jen

joe

I wasn’t very clear on that was I? I meant the administrator, web master, etc.

Sorry

Jen

I understand what you mean, Jen. I’m not sure about the programers in our Online Publishing department (Dave Voss being the forum guru), but I run the day-to-day operations of Trains.com and I certainly am a railfan. Once the ripples from the new forums settle, I’ll tell you about my recent trip to Kansas.

Thanks for keeping our forums great, Jen. I hope you enjoy the new format.

Erik

Sir, you only have 17 posts but you have 5 gold stars!! Could I at least just get one back?

I have 18 (now 19) and you have six. Three times as many as you. Wait a second… three times zero is zero. DOAH! [:I]

Erik

King? Please, let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

Almost every day I’m forced to watch trains when I get stuck at the RR Crossing on my way to work. One thing I’ve noticed is that if I’m going to be late getting to work, the later I am the longer the train will be. [}:)]

Seriously tho’, I wouldn’t call myself a train watcher. It’s not that I don’t like to watch trains, it’s a matter of time I guess. I’m familiar with the different railroads, some of the terminology, but when it comes down to the specifics like the type of engine, what all the numbers on the side of boxcars represent – no way, that’s way too deep for me. [:I]

Now we (as in the family) have made regular trips to the East Troy Railroad, been down to the Illinois Railway Museum (Day out with Thomas [;)]) and also the Kettle Moraine Scenic Railway. We also have a bunch of RR videos (not just Thomas videos) which my two boys watch frequently.

When I was younger I had my own HO layout (it was roughly 8’x8’) which I spent a lot of time on. I remember being 5 years old, staying up until past 2am watching B&W war movies and “helping” my father with his double-tiered O Gauge layout. We attended quite a few swap meets and made trips to club layouts. We also made frequent trips to his buddies house and would either help out with his huge layout, listen to them talk trains or watch train movies. Every Christmas I looked forward to visiting my two uncles who always had their Lionel trains setup around the Christmas tree.

Oh yeah, there is currently an N Scale oval that has taken up residence (temporarily [;)]) on the kitchen table. [:I]

So railfan, perhaps…just not a railfan-atic.

OK David, so whats your point. some of us are just a little bit more warped than the others. LOL

Another one with only 17 posts and 5 gold stars. I feel like a janitor at Harvard Univercity.

oh quit your whining. LOL
MARTY

do the words WEB DEVELOPER mean anything to you. LOL

Did you receive my message about your three accounts? I can merge them into one and that’ll put you in the 300’s which gives you two blue stars. [;)]

I just need to know which of the three you want to keep.

The only time I wanted stars was when I was in the service. Didn’t make it then either.

Woops, looks like I made it after all. Thanks.
