Today, Dec. 4, in railroad history......a stretch

1955: There were 127 Class 1 railroads in the U.S. The stretch, is that I lifted this info off nanaimo73’s excellent post listing 1950’s Class Ones. I find it interesting that we’ve gone from 127 to 7 (?) in 50 years.

Anybody else?

Thanks to nanaimo73, for all the work put into the 1950’s Class 1 list.[:)]

You’re welcome.
Did you and the boys see that elevator get blown up yesterday ?

1991 Pan American World Airways ceased operations

The elevator is (still) 1 1/2 blocks straight out the front window of the lumber yard where I work. What a hoot! Today’s paper’s headline is “OOPS!”[(-D]

Can you find anything for tommorow?
