Does anyone up and down the line know what the issue is with today’s Westbound Cardinal??? Amtrak site just cites a “service interruption”.
My ear to the rail picks up reports of the westbound Cardinal being derailed (not serious) near South Portsmouth, Kentucky; bustitutions made to bring the passengers beyond there.
Yes it was a derailment. There were 3 Busses 1 Express to Chicago and 2 Local ones.

Back when the Hoosier State was the Kentucky Cardinal (going on from Indy to Louisville daily), if the Cardinal was significantly late going westbound, Amtrak would take the Kentucky Cardinal (coming out of Louisville) on up to Chicago out of Indy on its own.
Today, I suppose customers in Indiana have to climb on buses like everyone else.
