Heard today that Tom Snyder who was the host of the Tommorow Show ( a talk show ) for many years passed away this morning of lukemia. He was a toy train collector and operator. Toy trains were the subject of several of his shows. He therefore promoted the hobby nationwide.
How very sad. He seemed like a very nice and genuine man - not one to dwell upon his own celebrity. Since he was a collector and operator of toy trains, he seems like a kindred spirit. I liked the way he often made reference to his passion for toy trains on his show and whenever appearing as a guest on other shows.
My regrets go out to his family, loved ones and friends. Our hobby has lost a valuable, not to mention influential spokesperson.
An advocate for Lionel, Standard Gauge, and TM videos. His 100 year Lionel video was terriffic and his celebrity layout was great, too. He promoted trains on his talk shows and lionel and TM got big boosts from his Christmas/holiday train segment.
I already miss him. He used to be on after Johnny back in the day and what a wild and wacky show. He’d rhapsodize about Misty Beethoven, interview Alfred Hitchcock, and then spotlight the Plasmatics! Great personality and also a genuine Dude. God Speed.
