Tomar (?) Grade Crossing Signals

Does anyone know if Tomar ever made operating grade crossing signals with two pair of double signals, one placed out over the road on a cantilever bridge? I tried to contact Tomar, over a week ago, but they have not responded.

If they did, how much did they sell for?

Mike

LION does not know. LIONS are cheap and probly would not buy such things even if he needed them, which as the builder of a subway layout, he does not!

That said, LION would build his own from scratch. LION is not great builder, mind you, big furry paws do not allow for such, but as said, him is cheap and in the end is satisfied with what him hath wrought.

Nitpickers will be eaten.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re looking for. What Tomar currently seems to be selling is listed on this page: https://tomarindustries.com/signals.htm

Walthers has this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-2303 (and it is on sale) and this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-2304 (also on sale) and this: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-2314 (out of stock).

I have a pair of Tomar product H-862 (still in box with Tomar info sheet), and a pair of (unk mfg) cantilever style (no box or info) very similar in style to the Walther’s Single Lane signal. The difference is that the cantilever style are Cast metal (like the Tomar) not plastic as I presume the Walthers are. They are also more detailed.

I had already looked at the Tomar web site and concluded they did not Currently offer this design. That is why I phrased my question in the past tense.

Just remembered that I have an old Walthers Catalogue from the 90s that might be helpful. Stay tuned.

Mike

The only ones listed in the Walthers 2012 HO Scale catalog other than their own Cornerstone brand listed by maxman, above, are made by N.J. International and are brass construction. Walthers does not indicate whether their signals are brass or plastic.

N.J. International signals are made in the U.S., and Walthers are probably made in China, if that makes any difference to you.

That’s the way, completely avoid the question all together, that’s one way to get for your post count up [D)]

Must be a boring day on the prairie.

No worries about lions, I have a permit [:-,]

LION ignores post counts.

LION does not NEED a permit.

Do you have a boarding pass? TSA is watching you:

I apologize for for asking the question. Way more $%^&# than I expected.

They may be NJ International and obviously HO since I mentioned that my Tomar signal crossings were H-862 as identified on their web site.

Where is Alan Quartermain when we need him?

I’m not sure what you mean by this, especially the $%^&# part. I thought we (or some of us) were trying to help. Anyway, if you go to the Walthers website, there is a selection for advanced search. Once you get there, put Tomar in as the manufacturer, darken the circle that says show all items regardless of availability, and then check the box that says include discontinued out of stock products. Hit the search button. I did this before trying to respond to your question. You’ll come up with 63+ screens of Tomar items, 1892 products, in all scales. I looked at every page and did not see any over the track signal crossing. Of course it’s possible that Walthers only went back so far with the items. That I can’t answer.

Tomar Industries never made the cantilever style crossing signals.

NJ International appears to be the only one who makes such a configuration.

Thank you Rich. That is all I needed to know. I appreciate it.

I have no worries [(-D]
