I have a couple questions about the Tomar HO H-851 illiminated switch stands. They have them available in 1.5v bulb or LED versions. How do they compare when lit up?
Also has anyone used their linkage kit to make them rotate with turnout movement? Is the linkage reliable and does it actually work?
Thanks,
Roger Huber
LION try it not. Him not use such things of SUBWAY layout of him! Still, him happy to bump ewe up to the top, give otheres a chance to sea your post.
Sea posts. Is where you tie up your seahorse.

I went with the RIX operating switch stands. They work pretty good with my Peco Code 83 turnouts and are much less costly than the Tomar. Probably not as prototypical as the Tomar but not bad.
Thanks, Lion!
I’ve never seen the Rix throws. They look pretty nice but I think I would go for the low or high working throws with targets from Caboose Industries and save having the cost and hassles of installing Tortoises and an indicator.
I would like to have the lighted Tomar versions even if they didn’t rotate as they just look neat going down a yard ladder. Yes, they certainly are expensive! Especially now that they have converted everything to LEDs.
When Tomar first introduced them many years ago I bought a couple. They weren’t all that bright so I wondered if the LEDs were brighter/better.
Anyway, I would still like to hear from someone who has both 1.5v & LED stands or who has seen them about the looks and lighting differences between the two.
Thanks, Guys!

I have several Tomar semaphore signals, both 1.5 incandescent and LED. I, too, thought the LEDs would be brighter but they seem to be mounted in such a way that not much light actually gets passed through the “lens”.
Of course, with the incandescent, you run the risk of shortening the life if you drive the lamp too high so it seems that the choices are limited in such a small lamp housing.
