Last May I preordered two Atlas Classic HO locomotives with sound, one a RS 1 and the second a RS 11. Delivery was supposed to be in August. When they didn’t arrive on time I called Tony @ Tony’s Train Exchange and learned that the clerk who took my order had lost it. Tony was very apologetic and said that he would see what he could do. I was particulary interested in these locos as a local short line uses them.
I later talked with Tony when ordering other items but there was no encouragement about the locos.
Several days ago I received notice that a package was being shipped. I thought that on one of my “window shopping” visits to his web site that I had actually ordered something.
The package arrived today and much to my surprise and joy it was the two locos. They not only look great, but run and sound great as well.
I have found Tony’s to have good prices as well as service. He’s amomg my top 4 vendors.
I ordered my Digitrax system from them years ago and was very pleased with the service. They answered my questions when I ordered on the phone and warned me about limitations in the item I was purchasing.
Wassamatta? Don’t you like pepperoni and mushroom? (Well, yeah, if they shipped it UPS you might have to warm it up in the microwave.)
I’ve got a pair of Tony’s PS-REV units. Great product. And their web site provides a great service to the community with their informational pages, too.
I’ve had good service through Tony’s also. I purchased a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 Consolidation steamer in the Western Maryland flag a few years ago that only ran a few minutes then died.
Since it was a new loco I didn’t want to open it to see what might be wrong so I sent it back. I got a call from Ken at Tony’s who said they were out of that RR and wanted to know if I wanted to wait for more to arrive or did I want something else in its place. I selected another loco that they had in stock and it arrived within a week.
I have also bought quite a bit of NCE items from them as well as their PS REV and Power Shields.
I haven’t had any problems with them and will continue to make purchases from them.
I have ordered twice from them, first for a blown out priced Trix Mikado, and later for a PSX-AR. Very pleased with both items and Tony’s treatment of me.
I purchased my Digitrax Chief setup and other items. Also ordered a BLI SD40-2. It was supposed to include a motor decoder, it did not. Being new to DCC I was somewhat confused when I placed it on the program track to program the motor decoder and got no response. Looked at the BLI manual and followed it’s instructions, sound was great, no movement. Got on Digitraxs forum and asked for a little help. I was told it needed a motor decoder to program 4 digit address etc. I stated it already had one. I ended up removing the shell and found a decoder plugged into the 8 pin socket. It said Blue Line or somthing simular on it. I didn’t know what a Digitrax decoder looked like in person but looking at pictures showed it was not a Digitrax decoder. Out of the blue I recieved an email from Tony asking me to call him. We discused the situation and he agreed a mistake was made and somehow it was shipped before the decoder was installed. He said to send it back and it would be taken care of. He then switched me over to one of his guy’s. I asked him to ship me a decoder and I would install it, he did,a simple job and all was well.
The point is Tony searched me out and came forward to help before I had to contact him. I call that outstanding on his part. I guess he looks at the forum or someone mentioned my problem? Regardless, Tony’s is the first place I call, overnight for me, and outstanding service!
