Tony's Train Exchange: Products that please!!!

Recently , I bought a NCE Power Cab DCC system and the PS-1 and PS-REV units from Tony’s Train Xchange.

When I first tested my Power cab, it didn’t work right away. I called Tony’s. This guy I talked to was very helpful, but we still couldn’t get the power light to light up. So he said “Let me get Tony on the line.”

Well, I then talked to Tony, and right away when I said the power light was off, he said “What cable did you use for the cab?” and it turned out I was using the wrong cable! I plugged in the other cable and everything worked. I was happy…not only that my system worked but that I had the backup knowledge of Tony & co. to rely on!

Just to let you know, the NCE PowerCab system is by far the most advanced system for the price. Anyone getting into DCC or not happy with Prodigy , Atlas take a look!

Then just today I hooked up my PS-REV auto-reverse unit to my reverse loop. I have waited to hook this up because I wanted plenty of time to test it and not “rush” and have the thing short circuit without knowing what to do. Today I called Tonys just to make sure I had the wiring correct.

I hooked it up according to their instructions…and blamo! The train goes into the reverse loop and the PS-REV light goes off to tell me that the train entered “forward” and blinks if I go thru in “reverse”. No hassles, no tripping the breaker for some unknown reason, no mess, no fried components–trains can get cut from either end, I can shunt forward and reverse and even drop a loco and pull out a new engine to run the old consist!

My first attempt at DCC and Reverse loops and it was 100% successful…thanks to Tonys products and unequal customer technical service.

Cheers,
Tom M.

(not necessarily a brown-noser, just a very happy customer!)

Hi TOM, that is great news, and I can share your comments about Tony and his team, I have visited his business in Vermonth twice and bought several itels, including a wireless NCE system. They are very helpful people who strive to help every customer. I must also say another thing, what happened to you with the wrong cable, that being the end users problem, points out how so many vendors get bad mouthed, when it is 95% of the time our own fault. I have done it too Tom , along with countless others I am sure. Thanks for your input Tom,

Right on, Tom!

I too will add that I talked to Tony two days ago over a technical question with a DSD100LC decoder.

This was after I had e-mailed him first, and he asked me to call. He was able to answer my question over the phone, and I was able to do the modifications I needed to get the decoder to work they way I wanted it to.

Tony is second to none in my opinion as to how businesses should operate.
He will be getting more business from me.

Tony and his crew are a class act.

I work for the Air National Guard based out of Burlington VT and have been up there numerous times for training. I always make it a point to stop by his shop when I’m in town. I also work with an individual who us to be an employee at Tony’s a few years ago.

Every time I’ve had questions about my DCC system or a decoder installation, tony and his crew always have the time to answer any and all questions. I’ve only been back in the hobby for about 4 years now. What I have learned in that time is that anyone will sell you a decoder. Very few companies will sell you the decoder and then be there for you after the sale to answer any of your questions. To me…this makes all the difference in the world.

Goldmine…sorry buddy, but Tony and his crew are not personal friends of mine. I just believe that when you come across a company that really stands behind their product and is there for you after the sale, people should know. Too often in life, people just love to complain about companies. Rarely do we hear about the good experiences from hobby dealers that truely care.

GOLDMINE: You are sadly mistaken young man, I am NOT a personal friend of Tony, just a very satisfied customer who will always express satisfaction with vendors such as Tony, to spread the news to my friends on this forum, including you. Lighten up Goldmine, the world has MORE than it’s share of folks who are in need of social skills. “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”. Have a great day Goldmine, and I mean that in the best sense.

I do not post much but have been reading this forum for a couple of years now and have allways been very impressed with the knowledge that is here and allways shared with nothing asked in return. Everyone hear seems to enjoy communicating with respect and a smile on their face. I belong to another forum (not RR relating) where the norm is bashing and belittleing vendors and fellow members.

There is a saying that would be a good motto for this forum, “Knowledge gained and not shared, is knowledge loss”.

I have been absent from Model RR for 30 + years and just now getting back into it after finding the drum of old HO track and trains that was packed away when my boys found cars and girls. As soon as I gain some knowledge, I will share.

I don’t have any experience with Tony’s but I have a LHS that does business the same way allways having time to explain anything and every question answered in full. When he starts explaining, a crowd gathers to listen.

Well I will stop now and go back to reading the other posts, but this forum is my home page.

Have a great day

Ron

Ron,

Couldn’t agree with you more. Glad you are able to join us. Let me put in my [#welcome] aboard since you are a new member. Hope you’ll be able visit with us often. [:)]

Tom

I can’t say enough good things about Tony’s and Loy’s Toys. Both are extremely helpful and very pleasant to deal with. Whether it is a problem afterwards or advice beforehand, both seem willing to steer people in the right direction.

Let me join Tom in welcoming you Ron to this forum. And I agree with your saying, I love it!! There are many very knowledgable guys and a few ladies too, on this forum, I have learned much from their experiences good and bad, that they have shared with us all. There are a few guys that get a bad case of high testosterone levels every now and then, or, maybe they had a fight with their CFO, or their boss, or just plain too hot and humid for them, so you have to overlook their responses and try to get them cooled off. Good to have you on board Ron!!!

Tony’s has gone “over and above” for me a couple of times. I really like dealing with them. I’ve bought lots of stuff from them (and Litchfield). I know that maybe I can scour the country for a little bit cheaper price, but there is more to a sale than that.
