Toronto Train Show

the annual toronto xmas train sho is coming up on october 29 and 30

anyone here going and interested in meeting up at the show , and maybe going to wendy’s down the street for a burger after ? i suggest wendy’s for the under 19 folks , if only older folks show up we could go somewhere with adult beverages

Remember the exchange rate may make perto prices almost affordable! And there are always “trains” to and from Toronto! Viva Via!!!

i’ll tell my cousins!

Where abouts in Toronto is it?

at the international centre out by the airport . not exactly ‘toronto’ but now that we have the GTA i guess i can’t complain about that anymore [:)]

I expect to be there, building cardboard buildings at the Platelayers booth. Come and say “Hi”.

I know I won’t be.

Child #2 will be here by then & I know I won’t have time.

Living in the states, I don’t often get to the Toronto shows and enjoyed those which I have attended.

Is this the same one which used to be held on the Exhibition grounds, I think in the Queen Elizabeth Building?

cnw:
not the same show. That one was the March show, sponsored by the CRHA. That one at one time had obliterated all the other shows in Toronto, but they became complacent and the show shrank. The last show had only one layout and was located in a less desirable section of town.
This one is run by the fellows that organized the Train Show for the 2003 NMRA convention in less than a month after the NMRA pulled the plug on theirs.

Thanks for the reply. Several of us flew into the Island Airport and walked to the show. Was a great time. If I can clear my schedule, perhaps I can make the one at the end of October but unfortunately, it’s a big IF and would require a significant trip by car while the cost of gasoline is off the scale.

Dale:
The show is now located near the other airport (YYZ, the commercial one). Actually, the buildings started as the AV Roe factory where they made the AVRO Arrow.
And gas was up at $1.15 /litre today. (Litre is about a quart, approx 4 to the gallon. Don’t know about the $)

bump

I assume up on the northeast edge of the airport, seems like there’s a weekday GO Train stop in the parking lot.

Yeah on the gas, that price would be about $3.50/gal (US) based on an which is a bit more than the going price down here. Will see closer to the end of the month how things are going.

Thanks for the information.

Dale
