well folks it’s that time of year again
I’ll be there on Saturday.
i was at the show today (sunday) and i had a good time , talked to a few interesting people . one fellow was building a 3/4"=1’ live steam engine , another was working on a Free-MOn30 module http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Free-MOn30/
also talked to Derek Boles , who writes a ‘what happened today in toronto rail history’ segment every day (!) for the toronto rail historical group on yahoo http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/ToRyHeritage/
i bought the barrel factory craftsman kit from Full Steam Ahead http://fullsteamahead.ca/index.html
seemed to me there was a bit more to see this year
I was there Saturday. I actually thought there was less there this year then last. Not near as many vendors as there usually is.
you’ve got a point there , i don’t recall seeing George’s Trains there , or Fast Tracks , and i’ve often seen them at shows
i was basing my comment on how long it took me to see the show , longer than in previous years . probably just spent more time talking to interesting people than i have in the past [:)]
I think everything was more spread out. I thought Rapido Trains would have been there as well with their pre production Turbo Train, I REALLY wanted to see it. Last year I must have spent an hour at Jason’s booth just talking trains. Its funny that George’s Trains wasn’t there as well, I wonder why? Horizon Hobbies closed up and there were a few others that didn’t come.
As one who was working at the show, I thought it was a bit quieter than other years. We seemed to be spaced out more than previously (different hall) and at cleanup time cars could pass in the aisles.
We did have competition: Santa Claus parade, some football game.
I heard that hall rental was up; my informant didn’t say if table rental went up as well. Our group was given much more space than we asked for.
