What size hole do you have to drill for the wire through the subroadbed? I need to know this before I glue my track down. Also, if anyone knows, what is the minimum clearance for the switch machine? I have 3 1/2", so I hope it is enough.

Try an 1/2 inch spade bit, your cork road bed will cover the hole.It would seam that 3 1/2" clearence will do fine.IMHO

I used 1/2 for the holes and it worked. I had to drill a couple after the track was laid and found a forsner bit with masking tape gauge worked just fine. 3 1/2 will be tight. I finaly used some hump yard manuel switch cables where things were just too tight. They work well and look real nice. Good luck.
How tight is tight? I just need room to get the wires in there. The switches are above a hidden track level and there will be no need to get under them.
