I am going to be using Tortoise slow Motion switch Machines on my N scale layout. The wire that comes with the switch is designed to be no more than an 1 inch from under the turnout. With cork road bed, 1" foamboard, and 1/8" hardboard am over the limit of the included wire. The instructions says to subsitute a .025" spring wire if you need a longer length. But no one seem to even know what spring wire is. Does anyone know where I can obtain this wire, or a suitable substitute? Thanks!
It’s available in almost all hobby and craft shops. It’s called music wire or piano wire.

Thanks for the information, I had checked at the True Value Hardware store and they could get .025" Music wire in 3 foot lengths. But I wasn’t sure this was the same thing a spring wire. David
That’s the stuff. I have replaced several of the spring wires that came with my Tortys with it to improve their performance. It works.
