Town celebrates grand opening of depot museum
Of note is that the depot will be the destination for the excursion trains of the Tennessee Central Railway Museum. These trips run the 216 mile round trip from Nashville to Monterey along the rails of the Nashville and Eastern. NERR’s former TC from Nashville to Lebanon has been rebuilt to host The Music City Star commuter service. Also, the 14 miles from Algood to Monterey were extensive rebuilt for unit sand trains after laying dormant for almost 20 years. These upgrades make for a fast run for the 18 or so car streamlined excursion train. In the past, 4 E-units pulled the trains. Today, it is a mixture of NERR and TCRM power.
