Track Error

I am new to the hobby and in the process of building a setup on a 4x8 sheet of plywood. I am using Bachmann ez-track with a DCC controller I bought in a kit. I had a standard oval that worked great, but I just made a few changes - additions and I am now getting a track error on the controller. I added two let turn outs on each side of the strait track and joined them together in the middle. I know this is a currant issue, but does anyone have any suggestions? When I remove the connection between the turnouts everything works great.??? Thanks Greg

It sounds like you have created a revesing section. That requires special wiring, whether its DC or DCC.

Easy solution is to put insulated rail joiners on all 4 rails where the connecting track joins to the switches and then buy an automatic reverser unit ($30-50) and install it between the reversing section and the rest of the railroad.

Slightly more complicated solution, but much cheaper, more old school and not as user friendly, is to install the insulated joiners and install a DPDT toggle switch between the connecting track and the rest of the railroad. That will require you to keep track of which end the train is entering from and throw the switch while the train is on the connecting track, every time the train passes throught eh connecting track.

Dehusman, when I was looking into the automatic reversers, I was told that they only work on DCC layouts. Someone a little more knowledgeable should be able to shed more light. My layout is DC and my reverse loops are wired with DPDT switches.
