best glue for laying track?

Rather than glue use DAP Alex Plus.

a basic cauk works fine. It gives you setup time to make adjustments. Use a putty knife to apply it really ‘thin’ - You do not want it to ‘ooze’ up between the ties!

Kind of depends what your gluing it too. If your glueing to cork with is on foamboard then Ive had good luck with simple white glue but also as was mentioned cheap calking works well and goes a long way.

I used to glue, but now I use trackpins by Peco. I drill a hole in the tie and drive the spike through the roadbed and into the subroadbed. Once painted, they dissapear.

The only trouble with nails is it is possible to overdrive them and bend the tie. This can cause gauge problems.
