Track Layer

Just saw a t.v. special on a new monster machine in Britain that replaces track, ties (sleepers) gravel etc. in one step, the machine is huge and it’s rate of replacement is fantastic, it’s the largest in the world, it should show up on the discovery channel soon.

Need to go to Wyoming and watch the P-811s and the PONY Systems run… or it’s Plasser counterparts.

MC, the British machine was built by Harsco in the US. The technology is pretty much worldwide nowadays.

Have not seen it yet (and yes, HARSCO/Fairmont built the PONY, the P-811 and the P-811s)…the British are way behind in terms of track machinery & methodology, looks like they might be trying to kickstart their efforts? Know they recently got their first railmounted rail grinders not too long ago as well.

Where at in Wyo. would I see this thing MC?

PRB or any of the capacity expansion projects…

Example:

In conjunction with BNSF, UP is building a third mainline between Nacco Junction and Reno Junction, Wyo. The railroads are considering a plan to add a fourth track on Logan Hill.///…From Today’s Newswire

The TRT ( track replacement train) from Harsco is the most impressive , the one with inductive rail heaters is very clever. I think that one is the TRT 909 ?
